One and a half!

Tomorrow Lucia Penelope is one and a half years old. I feel like we have always had her with us and also like she was just a brand new baby last week. Wherever we go she says,"baby! " When she sees a stroller or a new mama with a little baby. I usually say " YOU are a baby" and kiss her neck. We watched dispicable me last night and at one point the littlest girl falls in love with a stuffed animal and shrieks," he's so fluffy I could DIE!!!" that is just exactly how I feel about Lucia. She is talking more and more. Let's see. She said "two!" earlier because she wanted another fruit bar ( as in " one, two" which I say a lot when handing her crackers ). Sach said that she said "other" because she wanted something else. She said," coco!" because I was reading them a book about Coco Chanel before bed. She said ,"papa home!" when sach walked in, that may have been her first sentence! She walks around the house saying ,"mamaaaaaa?" and then I shout," over her mija, in the kitchen" and she comes running in. Its like Marco polo. She's so sad when we say no & so sure of what she wants to do all of the time. She will just sit down and cry-tears actually spraying out of her eyes because I won't give her the whole bowl of oatmeal to hold or because sach told her no no. My mom saw her do this the other day and told her that she really needed to learn how to form her own opinion. Funny. She's just like India. So intelligent and passionate and naughty. My girls. Lucia pennypie, my squishy darling! You are better that a tumbler full of scotch & we just love you too much every day, every second.

Thimble

Lucia is such a sweet kisser now & I'm not sure if I wrote about this already. For the longest time she did not kiss and if I asked her for a kiss (or said to kiss papa goodnight) she would press her cheek to his chest very solemnly. It reminded me of Peter pan, he didn't know what a kiss was and Wendy told him it was a thimble. So Lu's kiss was a smoosh. I loved it. Now she mainly kisses her baby dolls and pictures in books ( her very first was a sweet grey pony in a board book). Earlier when we were saying goodnight to India she was kissing her palm over and over and waving at her. So we said goodnight and I was talking to luc while I nursed her and I said how sweet she was to India and how much her sister loves her. She stopped nursing and smooched her hand a bunch of times and waved to my bedroom door in indias direction. Kisses for India. Such a sweet baby.

nothing is funnier than India

This is Lucia's reaction to almost any gross/loud noise or silly behavior of miss India's. Hysteria, ecstasy, laughing until she falls over and gets hurt. It's catching and makes india act even sillier, as you can see. it's pretty wonderful.

came & babysat today while I got a haircut & drank coffee & read the new Anne Lamott. Nice.

Baby Lucia

I'm trying to teach Lu her name and she just will not try it. I said," can you say Lucy? Lu? Lucia?" after every suggestion she shook her head and firmly said," uh uh". So I asked her to tell me her name and she said," baby!"

Look, holding her own bottle. Next she'll be trimming her own nails, cooking herself breakfast and drinking a big cup of coffe while she checks her emails. Help!

She is such a little talker, it's constant. She loves to say "papa" and is using her new words to really communicate. I love it. She walked up to me with her yogurt earlier and said "help you! help you!" because she wanted me to help fix it. She says "thank you!" very happily when she hands me things. "all done!" is her favorite besides the ever popular "OH NO!!!"

Chatterbox

She is talking non stop, mostly a stream of , " oh no! All done! Nonono! Uh oh!! All done! Boom! Ouch! Meow! MeowHISS!!! All done, boo????BOO???BOO?!?! All done! Hi!!!!!!" all day. I should get a video.
